Attendance Rap & Hello Song

The Attendance Rap can be used during the school year after the Name Game Rap is used as an icebreaker at the beginning of the year. The Attendance Rap is a simple, quick way to engage students with calling out their name to the beat.

It is recommended that all students rap the "chorus" of the tune. Then, the teacher raps, "Hey, number one," and the student who is number one in the classroom says, "Yeah!"

Then the teacher raps, "Call out your name," and one student has two beats to say their name in rhythm.

Continue with the second, third, fourth, and so on. Typically, after four students have said their names, the entire class can return to the "chorus" of the rap. Then, continue until all students have said their names.

NOTE: A backtrack is included, which would allow for 40 names to be called out, with the chorus in between every four students. The backtrack does NOT need to be used all the time. It is perfectly effective to perform the rap a capella.

The Hello Song is great for younger students.

  • Teach the song

  • Take attendance by singing their name on Sol-Mi.

  • Have students sing back "Here" on Sol-Mi. The goal is to have students match the notes you are singing.
